Remember, the JC Dems annual BBQ is tomorrow, Saturday Sept 24, at the Hills Community Center. A special tribute to Minnette Doderer will begin at 3:00pm, and the BBQ will start at 4:00. Come see our GREAT 2nd District Congressional candidate, David Loebsack, as well as the Democratic candidates running for Governor and other offices. The food will be good, the speeches short (maybe), and the opportunity to hang out with fellow Dems priceless! Net proceeds from ticket sales will go to local Katrina victim relief efforts.

Hello,

Democracy for America is hosting an online instant run-off vote to determine which congressional candidate will receive their first national endorsement of 2006. The 10 Congressional candidates on the ballot were narrowed down from a field of 60 during an online vote last week. The candidate who wins the instant run-off vote will receive a DFA-List endorsement and a national e-mail from DFA's Chair Jim Dean.

Silent Auction items for the JC Dems Fall BBQ September 24, 2005

Political memorabilia, t-shirts, sweatshirts, buttons, signs (especially autographed!); art items, food items, gift certificates, etc. It's good to have a range of item prices so that everyone has a chance to bid. In past years we have had books, meat donated by Stutsman's, a Harley jacket by Dick Myers, storage units by Quality Care. The sky is the limit.

The day of our JC Dems Annual Barbecue is fast approaching. Saturday, September 24th we will gather again at 4PM (3pm for Minnette�s Tribute), this time at the Hills Community Center. We will hear from all of the Democratic Candidates for Governor and our great Congressional Candidate David Loebsack. This year our tireless Gina Schatteman will feel doubly rewarded after volunteering countless hours coordinating the event because we are giving our net proceeds from the door to hurricane relief efforts.

The challenge has been to raise enough money for our county party�s 2006 needs. Through 100 and 250 dollar host contributions we hope to raise enough to start to fund our real mission. The Central Committee recognizes the immediate needs of our Gulf Coast sisters and brothers but we know that long term relief from poverty requires a change in our nation�s leadership from the Whites House to Congress to our own state legislature.

Democrats not only put people to work at real jobs with good wages (prevailing wage jobs), but we have the foresight to plan for the safety and welfare of our citizens and the respect for our environment to at least attempt to prevent the devastation we have witnessed in the last month.
