Andrew Stern in Coralville -- July 20

From: "dleshtz@zeus.ia.net" <dleshtz@ia.net>

Andy Stern, SEIU International President, is coming to town to
show support for the professional and scientific staff who are building
a union at the University of Iowa.  He will attend and speak at a
community picnic on Wednesday, July 20, in Morrison Park on 5th St. in
Coralville, from 5-7 PM.

Stern, whom the New York Times called "not your typical labor chief,"
has overseen rapid growth in the Service Employees International Union,
the country's fastest-growing and most diverse union.  He is a major
national figure in health care, affordable housing, and the fight to
preserve Social Security.  Stern is widely seen as a progressive labor
leader who has been in the news recently for his controversial efforts
to reform the AFL-CIO.

Dave Moore, Iowa City's favorite singer-songwriter, will contribute to
the festivities.  Bring your family and friends for food, fun, and to
show your support for our University employees and their right to
bargain collectively.

More info: SEIU office, 341-0112.
