Dafur Dinner 4/30

From: "Greta Anderson"

Jeffrey Fields encouraged me to invite Democrats on the list-serv to
the event below. It will be a great opportunity to meet a very talented
and vibrant community, the Sudanese immigrants who live in Pheasant
Ridge. Many of them have U.S. citizenship or are in the process of
applying; they were dissidents who left northern Sudan when Sharia Law
took over in 1993. This benefit was their idea.

If you can’t make it but would like to participate, we’re collecting
items (see list below)—or send a donation check made out to AFSC to
“Darfur Benefit; Pheasant Ridge Community Center; 2626 Bartelt Road;
Iowa City, IA 52246.”

(Darfur is just another of Bush’s foreign policy “flubs” – if you can
use such a word to describe a situation where hundreds of thousands
will die this year: see Sunday’s Washington Post editorial:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/04/23/
AR2005042301032.html We will be composing post cards to the State
Department at the event)
